Ethiopia is sometimes called the birthplace of coffee, even though where exactly originated from is not know. What is known though, is that Ethiopia today makes some of the best coffee which includes Harrar and Yirgacheffe (the latter of which is from the Sidamo region). These coffees are similar in taste to Yemeni coffee and are often used as a substitute for Yemen Mocha in the Mocha Java blend.
Yirgacheffe is a wet processed coffee from the Sidamo region of Ethiopia. They have a lighter body and less earthy and less "wild" taste than other Sidamo coffees, especially the dry processed ones. Still, Yirgacheffe is overwhelmingly fruity and lively. Perfect for spring and summer when you want a less heavy coffee.
Tasting Notes: Definitely one of our favorite coffees. This coffee has a lighter body with a really pleasant acidity and mouthfeel. It's tastes juicy and fruity with obvious citrus notes. Exceptional, but different.
