How can I buy your coffee?
The best and easiest way is to use our online shop and have the products delivered to your house or office. We deliver FREE of charge China-wide for orders over RMB 100. You can also visit one of our resellers throughout Shanghai. For an updated list please visit our Retail section.
Which coffee should I buy?
Blends are a great place to start. Single Origin coffees are better for when you want something unique and know exactly what you are looking for.
- If you like dark roasted coffee - something incredibly smooth and slightly bittersweet - try our V. Espresso blend. Don't worry, it's not only for espresso but also great in a French Press. Our Brazil Santos is also a great dark roasted coffee.
- If you like something lighter and milder with some nice fruitiness try our V. Gourmet or perhaps the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe or Guatemalan Huehuetenango.
- If you're looking for a top-quality, sophisticated coffee with incredible balance go for the Caffè Primo or most of our single origin coffees.
- Still not sure? Get one of our tasting packages and try our whole range!
How fresh is your coffee?
Our coffee is roasted locally here in Shanghai, making some of the freshest coffee available. As you will see some of our coffees are marked "Roast On Demand" designating those coffees which are roasted only AFTER you place your order. Other coffees not designed as Roast On Demand are usually no more than 1 or 2 weeks old. Please note that for Roast On Remand coffee we usually need 1 extra day to process your order
Where do you roast?
We roast right here in Shanghai, but our green (raw) beans (actually they're seeds) come from all over the world!
How do you roast?
We use small drum roasters to roast all of our coffees. Drum roasters roast the coffee slower allowing for more flavor to develop inside the bean. All our beans are roasted between 14 and 16 minutes. We believe that roasting longer than that over roasts our coffee and destroys the delicate flavors and brightness that we spend so long looking for.
How fast do you deliver?
For Shanghai we deliver within 1 day after dispatching your order. All orders are usually dispatched the same day if we receive your order before 16:00. For coffees marked Roast On Demand we will need one extra day to do the roasting. Orders for the rest of China usually arrive within 2 - 4 days. We're off on the weekends so orders placed then will be processed Monday.
Do you really only use 100% Arabica beans?
Yes, we only use 100% Arabica. It is common to see up to 30% Robusta in some espresso blends to help with the crema and the body but the taste suffers dramatically and we believe that kind of misses the point of gourmet coffee.
Is your coffee vacuum packed?
Fresh roasted coffee cannot be vacuum packed. We pack our coffee straight after roasting in high quality bags with a one-way valve. A one-way valve allows the CO2 produced by the freshly roasted bean to exit the bag while keeping oxygen from entering. This is important for the freshness of your coffee. Vacuum packed coffee is usually left outside to degas, up to 2 weeks, before it is bagged, giving the freshness a dramatically negative hit!
How do your subscriptions work?
You can subscribe to your favorite coffee in each's coffee's product page. Just select the quantity you'd like to receive per month and the duration and we'll take care of the rest. You can cancel at any time without penalty under the My Subscriptions page in the top right of every page.
As we ship on or around the 1st of every month we usually count orders received between the 1st and 15th of the current month as orders of that same month and orders received between the 15th and the 30th as orders of the following month (e.g. if you place an order on the 9th of January then the next order would go out the 1st of February, if you place an order on the 19th of January the next order will go out the 1st of March). If you would like to modify this just use the Contact Us form on the top right of every page.
